Step 8: Code
When you click on the "Next" button in Step 7 (Failure URL), you will be presented with the eighth and final step in the SellDirect script generation process: The "Code" tab, shown below:

Before you can actually generate the code, you must answer the one remaining question on the page:
"Who do you want to generate scripts for?"
This is a very important question. Listed in the drop-down text box next to this question is a list including "My Partner Account" and also all of your existing affiliate partner accounts. Should this particular SellDirect script be for your own use, you should select "My Partner Account" from the drop-down list. If, however, you are generating this SellDirect script for an affiliate to use on their own site, then you should select that specific affiliate from the drop-down list.
If you select an affiliate from the drop-down list, the resultant code which will be generated at the end of this process will contain an affiliate identifier for the selected affiliate - they will receive their allotted percentage share of all revenues generated through that particular SellDirect link/button. It goes without saying, therefore, that great care should be taken when selecting affiliates, so that the correct links are sent to the correct affiliates.
Note: The drop-down selector only appears if you have created at least one affiliate account.
Generating the code:
To generate the code, you simply need to click the "Next" button adjacent to the drop-down box. Once this button is clicked, the SellDirect system will generate the sell direct scripts and will present you a page similar to the one shown below:

As can be seen from the diagram above, two short scripts are presented - these are the two scripts that now need pasting into the Sales and Download pages respectively - the pages that you created, back in Step 1 of the SellDirect wizard.
Inserting the scripts into your web pages:
1. The sales page script needs to be pasted into your sales page where you want the Buy Now button or link text to appear.
2. The download page script needs to be pasted into your download page where you want the download links to appear.
IMPORTANT:
After pasting in the above scripts and uploading the appropriate pages to your web host, you should test out each of the pages to make sure they are working correctly.
| 1. | Make sure that the Buy Now button or Link appears on your sales page. |
| 2. | Click on the Buy Now link to visit the Purchase Page and make sure that it is showing the correct information and displaying your header (if you chose to upload one in Step 4). |
| 3. | Check your download page to make sure that it is showing the log-in form correctly. |
| 4. | If you find you have any problems, when testing your pages as instructed above, revisit each of the Steps in the SellDirect wizard to check that you have entered the required details correctly. |
With the above checks satisfactorily completed you should continue, ensuring that you save all your changes.
Saving your Changes:
If you look at the bottom of this screen you will see two buttons on the bottom right portion of your screen, "Cancel" and "Save Changes".
You should, at this point, click the "Save Changes" button. This commits all the changes you have made to the database, storing your new script for future use and/or editing. You will be returned to the main SellDirect screen on clicking the "Save Changes" button and you will see that the script that you have just created is now showing in the list of existing SellDirect scripts (which we saw back in Fig. 2.6.2.2 back in the SellDirect introduction page) - shown again below:
