Path, from the left navigation menu: ['Customization' section] > Customizable Text

Throughout the site there are a number of pieces of information, presented to the customer, which require some kind of label or 'heading' to clarify the type of information being viewed. Some of these types of information (such as 'Author' and 'Publisher' are pretty obvious, but some are not quite so specific, and may require tailoring to suit your site. What's great about customizing these text elements throughout the site, is that it further differentiates your pages from other audio book sites and potentially targets your site even more towards its intended audience.

Tip:

You could use the opportunity of customizing information headings to broaden the appeal of your site to markets whose first language is not English, with bilingual headings like "Buscar / Search", say, for a Spanish audience. A simple 'accessibility focus' like this could have a marked impact on your sales!

To load the Customizable Text options, simply select the link, under the "Customization" section of the Navigation Menu, entitled "Customizable Text".

The "Customizable Text" page allows you to view / change a number of different headings, used throughout the site to identify different types of information to the customer:

Search:

This is the title of the 'Search Box' which you can position on your page template within the skin setup section of the customization menu. You may want to change the default value of 'Search' to 'Find' or 'Lookup' or another, user-friendly term to suit.

Browse by Category:

Browse by Category is the text heading for the category listing panel displayed on all of your pages. This is doubtless one of the key navigation tools that your customers will use, so be sure to make the title of this panel a relevant one. You can simply edit the text in this box to change the heading as desired.

Recommended:

The Recommended Panel is the list of titles which are presented to customers, at random, from a weighted list of promotional titles. This list is effectively a 'good deal' for the customer, either in quality and/or price terms, and so you can be assured that a title of 'recommended' or 'My picks for you' or similar will be wholly relevant and surely much appreciated by your customers. This panel is designed to give the customer the benefit of your selection of some key titles they won't want to miss.

New Releases:

New Releases are just that - titles which have been newly released on the Spoken Network system. These are titles which, especially for repeat visitors, aren't likely to have been seen on your site before. Great for attracting repeat trade (customers will drop by regularly to see what's new...) these are generally the 'front-list' titles from our publisher partners. You may want to use phrases such as 'Just in' or 'Hot off the press' here to make the title of this panel your own.

Best Sellers:

Best Sellers are those titles which, across the network (and quite possibly on your own site) are performing particularly well in terms of sales. The likelihood is that titles will come in and out of popularity in relation to news events, promotional activities off-line and such, and so without necessarily being 'new' titles or 'recommended' this panel will present the hot titles of the day/week to your customers, so they don't miss out on the must-have audio-books.

Custom Links:

The Custom Links Panel is a wholly customized set of links, to pages within your site and outside your site too, and so would benefit from having a more descriptive title. For example, you may want to list the niche sites to which you sent a series of Sell Direct links, or to your Adsense content site generated via Content Direct. Simply change the text in this field to the text you would like to see at the heading of the Custom Links Panel.

See Larger Photo:

When your customer views a product description, they will see a small pack-shot of the physical audio-book product. This pack-shot can be enlarged by the customer by clicking the link beneath the small pack-shot entitled 'See Larger Image'. Should you wish to rename this link text, you may do so here, in the See Larger Photo field. Simply replace the default text with your desired wording.

Please Log In:

When a customer wishes to view their account via your website they may do so by clicking the 'My Account' tabbed menu option in the header of your website, then by logging in using their username and password. The box into which they enter their username and password is, by default, labeled 'Please Log In'. This text can be changed in this field within the Customizable Text screen, to anything you would prefer - for example, 'Enter your details here' or 'Security Checkpoint' or similar.

Not Reviewed:

If an audio-book title has not yet been reviewed by a customer (anywhere on the Spoken Network) then the text you choose here will be displayed to the customer. Please don't confuse this text with the 'Be the first to review this title' text (which you can edit later on). This text is simply to inform, in the first instance, that there are no reviews of this title for the customer to look at. Perhaps you would prefer 'Sorry - this title doesn't have any feedback just yet' or some other form of words. Simply replace the default text here with your desired phrase.

Reviewed X:

If an audio-book title has been reviewed, the number of reviews it has had will be displayed to the customer on the title information page. Once again, there is an element within the text in this field which should not be changed, as it is a 'token'. The 'token' text here reads {OnceTwiceEtc}. When displayed, the 'token' is replaced with the actual value for the number of times it has been reviewed. This is sometimes considered a measure of the popularity of a title by customers, and an indication of how 'balanced' a view of the title the customer is likely to get from the reviews - well worth having. The number of times is in words (once, twice, three times, etc.), so please bear this in mind if you are editing the text either side of the 'token'.

Be First Reviewer:

Again, if no review has been posted against a particular title, the customer will see the text shown here in this field, along with the 'Not Reviewed' text, above. This text is designed to prompt a user to be the first to review the title - you may want to change this text to something site-specific. Perhaps you want to offer a prize for the best review of the month - you can edit the text as you require here.

Add Review:

Beneath the information about (existing) reviews, there is a link to add another review. This text is only displayed for those titles which have been reviewed at least once. The text will form a hyperlink to the add review page on your site, and should therefore be explicit - to the point. If you wish to change the wording of this link, you may do so by editing the text in this field

Note: The text boxes in the Customizable Text screen are only able to determine the actual text displayed within the page. If you want to make changes to the style of text (i.e. typeface, font size, etc.) then you need to edit your Category Panel in the skin setup section of the Customization Menu.

Saving/Undoing changes in the "Customizable Text" page:

You can make changes to the information within this page by simply editing the text in the fields directly. Once you are happy with the information contained within this page, you can save the information by clicking the button at the bottom of the page, labeled "Save Changes". This saves any changes you may have made.

If you wish to undo the changes you have made in this session (and so, since you last saved your changes) click the button labeled "Undo Changes". This will reset the whole series of Customizable Text fields to their values at the time you last saved them (or the default values if you have not made any changes previously).

To completely reset the Customizable Text fields back to their default 'factory' settings, you may do so by clicking the button labeled "Reset to Default". This will update all the text fields accordingly. Please note, however, that you must still remember to click the "Save Changes" button after resetting the fields, to store your changes.
