Coupon Codes:

Path, from the left navigation menu: ['Promotional Tools' section] > Coupon Codes

Coupon Codes are a great promotional tool you can use within your Partner System both as an incentive to purchase or reward mechanism. Put simply, coupon codes are pieces of text (a code of some description) which when entered by your customers will apply a special offer or discount to their current basket of goods.

For example, you might advertise (in a special offers, or custom page on your site) a one-time Coupon Code that rewards all NEW customers, this month only, 40% off their first order. Those (new) customers entering this special coupon code at the checkout will automatically receive the relevant discount on their order - in accordance with the terms of the offer. This type of Coupon Code will of course drive new customers to purchase.

Similarly, you might take a look through your "Sales by Customer" report and spot a regular customer that has spent hundreds of dollars on your site. What a great customer loyalty touch for you to contact that customer unexpectedly and thank them for their business with a unique "for-them-only" Coupon Code that gives them 10% off their purchases for the next month. Guaranteed to result in a happy customer who feels valued by your business.

To load the Coupon Codes page, in order to choose and activate/deactivate coupon codes, you need to select the link entitled "Coupon Codes" under the Promotional Tools section of the left navigation menu, as shown here:

Spoken Network generates the coupon code options for you and you can select which, if any, of these codes are active on your site at any one time.

The coupon codes are presented in an easy-to-understand table, with two sections: "Active coupons" and "Inactive coupons". As you can see in the image above, the "Inactive coupons" section displays the following columns:

Code (The unique name you give your chosen Coupon code)
Name (The title of this Coupon Code offer)
Description (A short explanation of the Coupon Code mechanic)
"edit" link (A link that you can use to change the code for a particular Coupon)
"activate"/"deactivate" links (Links that you can use to activate/deactivate a coupon on your site).

To activate a certain coupon code, you just need to click on the "activate" link for that code. Once you click on this link, the coupon code will be moved in the "Active coupons" section, as shown below:

The "Active coupons" section displays the same columns like the "Inactive coupons" section, with one exception. The "activate" link is being replaced with the "deactivate" link. Which means that if you want to deactivate a coupon code, you just need to click on the "deactivate" link and the selected code will be moved back to the "Inactive coupons" section.

You also have the option to edit the coupon codes from the list. To do this, you just need to click on the "edit" link or directly on the coupon code. Once you do this, a new page will load, as you can see below:

You have the option to edit the Coupon Code box. The reason you may wish to edit this code is that you may wish to tie in a discount to a seasonal offer, or other named event which the Coupon would benefit from tying into. For example: "Halloween06" might afford your customers a "buy-one-get-one-free" offer for one night only... or "Superbowl" might be a similarly time-sensitive offer. Offer restrictions within the Coupon Codes provided to you will range from 'title-specific' offers through 'date' and 'linked-purchase' type promotions. There are plenty of different coupon codes for you to choose from.

Having made your desired changes, you need to click one of the two buttons at the bottom of the screen. These buttons' functions are as follows:

"Cancel" Button: This button allows you to return to the Coupon Codes page without saving any changes you may have just made to the code. If, for example, you change your mind, you can abandon your proposed changes by clicking the "Cancel" button. Only clicking the "Save Changes" button (details of which are below) will you commit your changes.

"Save Changes" Button: This button saves any changes you might have made to the code, and then will return you to the Coupon Codes page.

As soon as you have edited the code of your Coupon, and made it active on your site you can advertise the Coupon Code to your customers (perhaps on your Home Page, Special Offers Page and/or through an emailing to your customer list).
